Palliative Care Patients Breathe Easy

The Coffs Coast Freemasons Association have been helping out in the local community yet again!. RW Bro Norm Standing PGJW, VW Bro Phil Robertson DGIW District 53 and VW Bro John Bertram presented two oxygen concentrators to staff at the Palliative Care Service who have had an increasing demand for these machines. The CCFA used money raised from their ongoing weekly BBQ plus an Interaction Grant from Masonicare to purchase the machines worth about $2000 each. Palliative Care clinical nurse consultant Bev Morris said oxygen was used as a therapy to relieve the distressing symptoms of breathlessness and the oxygen concentrators were less costly and more convenient than tanks. The machines can be loaned to patients of the Palliative Care Service for use in their own homes. "Oxygen concentrators are a valuable resource. They supply slow stream oxygen which enhances quality of life for patients with breathing difficulties and enables them to remain at home for ongoing care. We are very grateful to the CCFA for this very generous donation which will be a great comfort and help our patients," Ms Morris said.

Presentation to Boambee Public School

Thank You. This week students enjoyed the new tables generously donated by the Coffs Coast Freemasons and Masonicare. The tables are being used for outdoor learning and during morning and lunch breaks. They are a wonderful addition to our school and compliment the school vision for the creation of outdoor learning areas. Phil Robertson, Secretary, Coffs Coast Freemasons said, ?The Coffs Coast Freemasons Association is the charitable focus point for the local Masonic Lodges in Coffs Harbour. Our vision is to uphold the Masonic principle of Charity and heighten public awareness of Freemasonry’s commitment to the community. Over the years we have been able to assist many needy causes, and have been instrumental in the forming of the CanDo Cancer Trust. It is with great pleasure that the Coffs Coast Freemasons, in conjunction with Masonicare can assist the Boambee School in making the Learning environment better for the students.

MASONICARE Cheque Presentation to Riley Saban
by VWBro. Geoff Greenaway DGIW District 53
and RWBro. Norm Standing Region 5 MASONICARE Representative

"I want to live a happy inclusive independent life. With your help I won’t let my disability get in the way of my ability” says Riley Saban who has Cerebral Palsy Spastic Quadriplegia. This brave statement by young Riley has inspired the Coffs Coast Freemasons Association in association with MASONICARE to donate $5000 towards essential equipment to improve his independence and quality of life. The cheque was presented to the Saban family on Wednesday 15th February at the Coffs Harbour Masonic Centre.

Riley's mother Casey said "We are so grateful to the Freemasons and to all the other people who have donated to our fundraising appeal organised through the Developing Foundation . This $5000 takes us to the $30,000 we need to modify our vehicle so now we can get Riley and his powered wheelchair into the vehicle without having to lift him in ourselves. We thank everyone for their help. Every donation makes a difference to Riley".
